Overview

xDirect is a compact serial to Ethernet device server with an integrated Ethernet port and serial cable that plugs straight onto a device's DB9 serial port. It runs a full IP stack and a built-in web server, so the unit can be configured from a browser on a PC, smartphone or tablet. The family covers RS-232 only, RS-232/422/485 and Power over Ethernet versions, all with a DCE pinned DB9 female connector.

Built for

  • Networking legacy serial instruments and controllers
  • Connecting medical monitoring equipment to hospital networks
  • Remote configuration and monitoring of serial devices over IP
  • Replacing long serial cable runs with Ethernet

Key features

Mounts on the serial port

The DCE pinned DB9 female connector plugs directly onto the host device, with no separate enclosure or mounting hardware.

Three power options

Power from 5 V at the mini USB-B jack, 5 to 15 VDC on DB9 pin 9, or PoE on the xDirect PoE model.

Built-in web server

Configuration by web browser, Telnet client or serial terminal, plus Lantronix DeviceInstaller software.

AES encryption

128, 192 or 256-bit AES encryption protects serial data carried over the network.

Virtual COM port

Com Port Redirector software lets Windows applications use the remote serial port as a local COM port.
