Consensys Bridge Amplifier+ Development Kit

Overview

The Shimmer3R Bridge Amplifier+ Development Kit is a development environment for wireless, body-worn force and resistance measurement, with Bluetooth streaming and local storage. It comes with two Bridge Amplifier+ units, which connect to a strain gauge bridge sensor or load cell to measure load, weight, force, torque or pressure, while a resistance divider input takes variable resistance sensors such as temperature probes. Raw data is supported by LabVIEW and MATLAB drivers and the C#, Java and Android APIs.

Key features

Bridge and resistance inputs

Accepts strain gauge or load cell sensors and variable resistance sensors such as thermistors.

Built-in excitation

Supplies excitation for the strain gauge or load cell, so no external voltage source is needed.

Power control

The excitation source and amplifier are software controlled to save power.

Two gain channels

Low gain for bipolar inputs and a high gain channel with an extra 3x gain for unipolar load cells.

Motion data

Force or resistance data is captured at the same time as 9 DoF kinematic data.

On-board EEPROM

Identifies the expansion board and offers 2032 bytes of user data storage.
