Overview
Memsic's magnetometers are 3-axis sensors based on anisotropic magnetoresistive (AMR) technology. Memsic says that, compared with Hall-based magnetometers, AMR gives higher accuracy, lower noise and lower temperature drift. A built-in SET/RESET function degausses the sensor and removes temperature-induced offset, so the sensor needs less frequent recalibration after exposure to strong magnets.
Built for
- Electronic compass and navigation
- Smartphones, tablets and wearables
- Position sensing
- General magnetic field measurement
Key features
AMR sensing
Magnetoresistive sensing offers a high signal-to-noise ratio and low temperature drift compared with Hall-based magnetometers.
SET/RESET degaussing
Built-in SET/RESET clears residual magnetization from strong external fields and cancels thermal offset.
Heading accuracy
Parts are specified for heading accuracy of about 1°, and the MMC5983MA is specified for 0.5°.
Wafer level packages
The smallest parts come in WLP packages of about 0.8 x 0.8 x 0.4 mm.
I2C, I3C and SPI
All parts have I2C, with I3C on the MMC5616WA-E and MMC5633NJL and SPI on the MMC5983MA.
On-chip compensation
Parts include on-chip sensitivity compensation, and most include a temperature sensor.
